The Dairy Download
Ep. 30 - Banking on Dairy
Cows make milk. Milk makes money. But how do producers build the farms, facilities and herds needed to generate profits and a steady stream of dairy products? In the latest episode of The Dairy Download, two leaders in the agricultural banking space offer their thoughts on today’s lending landscape.
First up is Michael Reecy, Vice President – Dairy Industry at Farm Credit Services of America. The South Dakota resident tells us which parts of the dairy industry are growing and where he’s seeing contraction. He also discusses challenges facing dairy producers and how FCSA is helping overcome those obstacles.
Next, we speak with Jackson Takach, Chief Economist and Senior Director of Strategy, Research and Analytics with Farmer Mac. He talks about consolidation trends in ag banking and the dairy industry as well as what higher interest rates might mean for the space.
